The official version of Romani Anthem. The lyrics written by Zharko Jovanovic, a Serbian musician and composer, using a melody of Romani folk song. The anthem was created in 1949, as a reflection of Romani suffering in World War II. The song was first adopted by delegates of the first World Romani Congress held in 1971 in London. This official standardized version of Romani Anthem was produced by Musical-Choral Association from Moldova and performed by Moldavian Youth Orchestra. The Anthem was commissioned by the Open Society Romani Initiative Office.
